Prof. M. Abu Hilal is a Professor of Hepatopancreaticobiliary and Minimally Invasive surgery at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. He is specialized in laparoscopic Surgery and has led the development of laparoscopic surgery for the liver and pancreas in the UK and worldwide. Prof. Abu Hilal manages significant academic activity in terms of publications, presentations, book chapters, and invitations as an international guest speaker to different conferences. He has initiated different research prospective studies and RCTs. He has developed and published a number of laparoscopic surgical techniques and have offered training and proctoring to more than 300 surgeons from all over the world.  In addition, in February 2017, he hosted and chaired the international expert committee for the development of guidelines in Laparoscopic Liver Surgery. During this meeting the first set of international Guidelines on Laparoscopic Liver Surgery, were presented.
